He is a practicing certified public accountant and a certified mediator. He has been in public accounting for approximately forty years; focusing on various tax, accounting, bankruptcy, expert witness and financial planning services, with special emphasis on long-term planning for high net worth and small business clients. Steve is a certified with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants. In January 2020, Steve became a Sub-chapter V Bankruptcy Trustee for the United States Bankruptcy court.

Bailey Grufik Hays, CPA - Accounting & Tax Manager

Bailey Hays joined the firm in March of 2018. She graduated from the University of Tulsa in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Business Management and Entrepreneurship/Family Owned Business and again in December 2021 from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Bailey has a significant education of Computer Information Systems, and implements her knowledge of excel, extensive spreadsheet work and other programs within the firm. Bailey became a licensed CPA in February of 2024.

Adriana Marts - Project & Marketing Manager

Adriana originally joined the firm in January of 2017. After taking a few years off from work to start a family, she returned to the firm in November of 2022. Adriana had previously worked as a personal banker before joining the Steve M. Rutherford, CPA, P.C. team!

Erin Briggs - Office Administrator

Erin Briggs joined the firm in July of 2024 as the Office Administrator. Erin currently is enrolled as a full-time student at Tulsa Community College and finishing up her degree in Early Childhood Education, and plans on graduating in December of 2024. Erin previously worked as an Administrative Assistant and lead teacher at Kirk of the Hills Preschool. Erin has a passion for learning and plans to further her education and skills in accounting. She is excited to be a part of the team!

Jessica Maxwell-Beacom - Accounting Support

Jessica joined the firm in September 2024. She graduated from The University of Tulsa in December 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Jessica started her career as an Administrative Coordinator at Victory Christian Church. She is excited to be a part of the team and to continue to broaden her technical skill set and knowledge in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, and Data Analysis. 

Mary Garland - Accounting Manager

Mary Garland joined Steve M. Rutherford, CPA, P.C. in September of 2015. Before that time, she worked for her prior firm for thirteen years. Mary earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting in May of 2013, and received her Master of Accounting and Financial Analysis at Northeastern State University in December 2019.

Marissa Parkman - Project Manager


Marissa Parkman joined the firm in January of 2019. She graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 2013 with a Restaurant and Hotel Management degree. She has worked in management roles in Dallas, Texas and Chicago, Illinois for the past 9 years. Previously, she managed various Nothing Bundt Cakes bakeries in the Dallas area before moving to Owasso, Oklahoma in October of 2018 with her husband, Mason. She loves spending time with her son Dallas and her husband. She also has a passion for reading, quilting, and learning new skills with the team at Steve M. Rutherford, CPA.

Bianca Boyle - Accounting Specialist

Bianca Boyle joined the firm in July of 2022. She graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a specialization in accounting. Bianca has worked in the accounting industry for four years and is currently pursuing her masters degree in Accounting. She enjoys spending time with her family and watching her two kids play sports.

Lucy Villasis Cano - Administrative & Accounting Assistant

Lucy Villasis Cano joined the firm in April of 2023 as an Administrative Intern. She began working full time for the firm in May of 2024 after graduating from Oral Roberts University with a Bachelors of Political Science. She is a first-generation student. Lucy plans to attend the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2025 with a focus on Immigration with the end goal of becoming an Immigration Attorney and owning her own law firm! Lucy loves learning new things and is very excited to be part of this team and expand her knowledge of accounting.

Thomas R. Fawcett, CPA - ContractorTom graduated from Benedictine College in 1972 with a major in Accounting and worked in several industries before joining the public accounting arena in 1985. In 1996 Tom launched his own CPA practice, working with individuals and small businesses. Drawing on his previous experience as Controller of a specialty construction business, he became a recommended specialist for the construction industry. Upon the sale of his firm to Steve M Rutherford, CPA, he became the Chief Financial Officer of a construction business that did projects throughout the United States. After his retirement from that business, Tom consults with Steve Rutherford CPA working primarily with Contractor financial statements and business tax work.
